The Roman Colosseum, originally called the Flavian Amphitheater, was the largest building ever built at the time and was named World Heritage Site in 1980 by UNESCO along with the historic center of Rome.

Its construction began under the mandate of the emperor Vespasian, concretely between 70 AD and 72 AD, ending in AD 80 by his son, Emperor Tito.
This great amphitheater gave rise to numerous spectacles, such as fights between gladiators, animals and bloody execution of prisoners by the hand of beasts.
This magnificent building, symbol of the power of the Roman Empire, has considerable dimensions. Its oval structure has a perimeter of 524 meters with a dimension of 189 meters long and 156 meters wide and reaches a height of more than 48 meters.
